MAUL book club

MAUL book club is back for 2019… This is a no-pressure, optional group for MAUL members and supporters aiming to read a book a month.

Books chosen will relate to martial arts in some way, but we hope to include a range from ancient classics (in translation) to modern commentary.

We hope to make this group as accessible as possible and encourage members to loan to/borrow from each other, borrow from libraries, purchase secondhand copies and/or listen to audio versions.

Joining the group isn’t a commitment to read everything all the time. You don’t have to read the book every month, nor do you have to have read the book for a particular month to come along to whatever meet-up we have to talk about it. As Bruce Lee said, “A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.”

The book group is primarily intended for adult MAULers (Ori and MiNi) but MiNis in their early teens are welcome to join with the approval and supervision of their parent/guardian.

How to join

We’re running the group using the website goodreads.com. You do need to set up an account to access it but you don’t have to use the site other than particiapting in the group. It’s set up as a ‘secret group’ in order to protect members’ privacy. Please see our Trello for the invitation link to the group on goodreads.com.

If you have any questions, have difficulty using the link or would like to recommend a book, please get in touch with Ellie.
